Consultation

We are currently running a public consultation to take feedback on the future of the transport network in South West Wales.

Draft Plan

The draft Regional Transport Plan (RTP) has been prepared by the Corporate Joint Committee (CJC) for South West Wales, a newly established body for local government in the region. This Plan outlines the strategic management and improvement of the transport network across Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, and Swansea for the period 2025 - 2030. Upon finalisation, the new RTP will supersede the existing Joint Local Transport Plan, which was formulated in 2015.

The draft RTP aims to enhance and manage the transport system to:

  • support economic growth
  • encourage a modal shift away from private car use
  • reduce environmental impacts

The Plan sets out commitments to:

  • make it easier to walk, wheel and cycle for local trips
  • improve buses and trains so that they are more attractive and convenient
  • improve connections between different transport services
  • better manage our road network

Taking part

The new RTP is relevant to everyone as it outlines improvements to the transport network, routes, and services that many of us use daily. It also details where investment will be targeted over the next five years. We encourage as many people as possible to provide feedback on the improvements that matter most to you.

We particularly welcome feedback from businesses, community groups, developers, and those working in the public transport, logistics, or community transport sectors.

Our survey includes initial quick questions that everyone can fill in, as well as more detailed follow-up questions for those who have more time. You can complete the parts that are most relevant to you.

We have also published the Plan in full for your more detailed review which includes:

  • a policy framework containing 21 policies which set out our ambition for transport across the region
  • a Regional Transport Delivery Plan which identifies the schemes and interventions that are being considered for development and funding over the next five years
  • an Integrated Impact Assessment which looks at how the draft Plan will contribute to wider policy aims and objectives.
